Federico has worked at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), a specialized agency of the Inter-American System for agriculture, since 1997 as project specialist. Since then his portfolio were related with project in information, agribusiness, rural development, and innovation. Since 2004 he became the Head of the Information and Editorial Production Centre for Agriculture at IICA who deal with all the institutional projects and programs to improve access to information and knowledge in the Americas. Among those are SIDALC Alliance, AGRIPROFILES (using VIVO), Spanish Thesaurus jointly with NAL/USDA, IICA Libraries, Institutional repositories, Intranet, among others. He was President of the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialist- IAALD for the period 2012-2013. He is a strong believer of opening access for development.
