In August 2010, James Saaka joined the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) as Executive Director. Under his responsibility is ensuring that NITA-U achieves its mandate: to coordinate, promote and monitor IT development within the context of national, social and economic development of Uganda. Mr. Saaka joined Shell International B.V. in July, 1998, where he spent 12 years until July 2010. Before that, Mr. Saaka held positions of a Business Services Manager – Strategy & Compliance for the Shell Group based in The Hague, the Netherlands; the Information Security Manager for Shell operations, working out of Cape Town, South Africa; the IT Manager for Shell Uganda Ltd; and the Computer Services Manager at Pan World Insurance Co. He started his career in Bank of Uganda as a systems analyst in 1993. James Saaka graduated from the University of Vladimir Polytechnic Institute, The Soviet Union, with Bachelors in Computer Science in 1988 and a Masters in Computer Science in 1991.
