Laura Serghi is a Senior Policy Advisor with Public Works and Government Services Canada, where she has been leading the Open Contracting initiative for the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises. The initiative is in support of the international commitment to deliver on the first implementation of a common format for contract data for increased government-wide transparency and accountability in Canada. Laura and her team are responsible for implementing much of what is included today in the Open Contracting in Canada’s Action Plan on Open Government. Before joining the federal government, Laura was a Lead Senior Researcher and Product Manager for Alcatel-Lucent Canada for six years. In 2013, Laura won the Public Service Award of Excellence in Innovation. Laura has a Masters in Science Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Engineering, from Polytechnic University of Bucharest. Laura holds a number of patents in various areas of web services and services transformation.
